Jim is one incredible drummer and Rooster is very fortunate to have him!! He brings to the group years of experience and tremendous versatility and energy.
One could say that Jim’s drumming career really started the day he found himself playing along with the Dave Clark Five with a pair of Lincoln Log roof slats on the family ottoman. From that point on he was hooked and there was no stopping Jim on his passionate pursuit of becoming the phenomenal drummer that he is today.
With his love for drumming firmly locked in his heart and soul, Jim started playing in a string of garage bands, with his first official gig being an appearance on the March of Dime Telethon.
Having studied under the great Tony Monforte and also being influenced by a number of other very well known drummers, including local legend Timmy Craig, Jim’s personal style started to emerge.
He further honed his craft by playing in a number of excellent bands, including: “Grease Release”, “The Breaks”, “The T-Birds”, “Lock Stock and Barrel”, “The Hurricanes” and “Brothers of the Road”.
As well as having taught professionally, Jim has been called upon over and over again to provide his drumming talents in opening for such acts as: “The Kingston Trio”, “Government Mule”, “Tonic”, “The Orlons”, “The Vogues”, “Gary Lewis and the Playboys”, and “Danny and the Juniors”.
And, as with many of the others members of Rooster, Jim has logged hours in recording studios, having been involved with a number of CD projects, including the "Brothers of the Road" recording project. Click on the CD to hear Jim's drum solo on "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" from that CD ->
Being an incredibly versatile drummer, enjoying rock, blues, funk and swing, Jim is the perfect fit for Rooster. And now, with literally decades of experience under his belt, and a spark deep within him that truly drives this band, there is no doubt that you will be swept away by this man’s playing and stage presence. Rooster is very fortunate indeed to have Jim in the roost.
