The majority of engagements that Rooster plays are wedding receptions, and they love it. The musicians in Rooster have been playing receptions for years and shine at these events. In addition to having the opportunity to be a part of someone's most memorable day of their lives, Rooster loves weddings because they are such happy events and allow the band to play all styles of music to please ALL of the guests, young and old, which is the group's forte.
Typically, a wedding reception will have a cocktail hour, dinner and then dancing. Rooster offers an ala carte menu for all three segments. Here are some further details...

Dinner
Rooster can play soft music during dinner. The music is deliberately quiet and in the background, allowing you and your guests to enjoy your meal and good conversation. A variety of music is played during that time, including light jazz and beautiful classic ballads.
Dancing
Now Rooster takes over and makes sure that from this point on, you and your guests have the time of your lives. Rooster will work with you before the reception to fully understand how you want your reception to unfold in terms of music and energy levels and will also keep in touch with you throughout the night to make sure that the music played is to your and your guests' liking. The band contains excellent musicians, and the repertoire includes great songs from the 40's 'til now. Typically, the dancing starts out somewhat light, with such tunes as "Unchained Melody" and "Brown Eyed Girl". As the evening unfolds, usually the crowd gets revved up and wants to dance and be crazy. Then Rooster kicks in the high energy dance tunes, which include a lot of fun disco, motown, soul and funk tunes. Now it's a full blown party with family and friends. On the other hand, if you desire a more subdued affair, the band most certainly can accommodate that setting as well.
Continuous music!! - During the live music breaks, you have some additional options:
Rooster's Music
|
The band has an extensive collection of CDs and will select a mix of songs to play during the breaks to match the mood of your reception. Rooster will work with you ahead of time to determine just what type of music you want (or dan't want).
|
Your Music
|
If you have very specific needs regarding music you would like played during the breaks, you are encouraged to make a mix CD (or CDs) of your favorites and the band will be very happy to 'spin' those during the breaks.
|
DJ and/or
Karaoke
|
If you would like a personality to keep the party pumped during the breaks, for an additional charge Rooster will be happy to provide a dj to play music and interact with your guests during the breaks (including KARAOKE if you wish!!) This DJ option is strongly recommended. It is very inexpensive and well worth the few extra dollars.

Each reception is unique and that's the fun and beauty of receptions. Rooster will work with you to make sure that the music at your reception is exactly as you and your guests wish. Collectively, the musicians in Rooster have had the privilege of providing the music for hundreds of wedding receptions over a number of years and are confident you, too, will be delighted with their services (see: references).
Please remember that once dinner is over (one hour), it's the band and the music that will make or break the remainder of your reception (three hours). Be sure to keep this in mind as you select your band and set your financial priorities for your reception.
Free!!! - We'll post photos of your reception on our website!!!
As a free service, Rooster will be happy to post some pictures from your affair on our website, available for all of your friends and family to enjoy, absolutely free!! They'll be kept there for at least 6 months, and y'all are free to copy them (they're jpg's) . If you're interseted in this free service, ask for more details. A Handy Reception Planner
With all of the plans that go into a wedding, Rooster has found that mast past customers have appreciated a little help. Below is a reception planner that you can use to help work out the details regarding your reception, especially as they apply to activities involving the band. It is recommended that you cut and paste* this to your favorite word processor, fill it out and send it to Rooster. *(This can be cut and pasted from Internet Explorer but not always from Netscape. In fact, the planner has just been changed (7/23/03) from a table to lines of plain text to make ie easier for people to use. )

Here's a sample intro: Mary STATE-land , sister of the bride, escorted by Bryan u-LAND-uh, best friend of the groom.

Focal Point to the Band: Experience has shown it to be most advantageous to have a single focal point between the band leader and your guests. It can most certainly be you and/or your husband, however it is recommended that you request your best man to serve in that capacity. As such, he would remain in close contact with the band throughout the evening, making sure that the evening is progressing as you, your fiancé and your guests desire. In addition, the band will keep in touch with you to make sure things are unfolding as you wish.
Any other special events/instructions?
This form serves as a starting point in designing and planning your wedding reception. As your big day approaches Rooster will continue to work with you to fine tune all of the details so that when the day arrives, you can simply relax, enjoy your reception to the fullest. knowing that Rooster is handling all of the details that were worked out ahead of time! The band considers it part of the job to make sure you and your guests have a wonderful, fun, unforgettable reception. That's the service these musicians have proudly provided for years, and the members take great joy in seeing everyone, from the oldest to the youngest, smiling, laughing, dancing and celebrating your most special day!
